Michael Bewick

Michael was educated at Cambridge and has lived in Wales since 2002 rescuing an important historic house previously home to William Madocks and Percy Shelley.
He took responsibility for the management and development of the Llechwedd Slate Caverns in 2011 before becoming Group Managing Director of J W Greaves & Sons shortly after. The historic company founded in the 1840s owns 2,000 acres at Llechwedd where the business is landlord to two tourist attractions, Zip World Llechwedd and Antur Stiniog, as well as a local quarrying company Northern Welsh Quarries which continues the tradition of slate production on site. The business operates two hydro-electric plants making the site a net contributor of energy to the grid and most recently launched an accommodation business which includes the award-winning Plas Weunydd Hotel and two glamping sites including an innovative new off grid offer. The business also operates a cheese storage facility deep in the mineworking with Snowdonia Cheese.
Michael is Co-Chair of the Gwynedd and Eryri Sustainable Tourism Partnership, Chair of the North Wales Regional Tourism Forum and leads on Economic Development for the new World Heritage Site for the Slate Landscapes of North West Wales which has already attracted multi-million pound investment in to the slate communities.
