Accommodation Update – May 2024

With the summer holidays fast approaching, it’s time to cast an eye towards Britain’s exciting new accommodation offerings. From cool industrial grandeur to period charm, there is something to satisfy every taste. Experience a contemporary take on mercantile heritage in Liverpool or enjoy close-up views of world-class motorsport from a hotel balcony – here are the latest hotel openings and hotly anticipated additions to look out for.

The Halyard, Liverpool 
Opened March 2024

This newly built seven-story luxury hotel in Liverpool’s historic Ropewalks district, the site of former 18th-century rope-making warehouses, is IHG’s first Vignette Collection hotel in the UK. The Halyard boasts 133 stylish guest rooms, a gym, a 200-seater restaurant and bar, as well as a rooftop terrace offering panoramic views across the city. Named after the nautical term for a rope knot, the Halyard pays homage to Liverpool’s maritime heritage with its elegant industrial interiors. The design of the guest rooms is playful with colourful touches inspired by the city’s creative spirit. Located at the heart of the city, major attractions are only a short walk away, while the hotel is fully wheelchair accessible.

Ruby Stella Hotel and Bar, London
Opening May 2024

Ruby Stella will be the latest addition to self-titled ‘lean luxury’ brand Ruby Hotels’ portfolio. Centrally located in London’s Clerkenwell, this new 153-room hotel with 24-hour bar takes its name and inspiration from renowned Victorian novelist Charles Dickens. Expect old-world charm with characterful nods to the neighbourhood’s literary heritage, blended with elements of contemporary design. The guest rooms are styled with a focus on stripped-back luxury and comfort.

Escapade Silverstone, Northamptonshire 
Opening 29 July 2024

Set to open in time for the Formula One Grand Prix in July, Escapade Silverstone is about to launch 60 split-level residences with slick slipstream-inspired architecture at Britain’s world-famous race circuit. While some units will sit trackside with circuit views, others will be scattered across the site. Apartments will feature two to four bedrooms with balconies or roof terraces overlooking the racing circuit. Guests will also have access to a restaurant with an international menu, a pool and clubhouse.

Soho House, Manchester
Opening in 2024

The highly-anticipated opening of Soho House Manchester, the first Soho House club in the north of England, is due in the second half of 2024. The club will be located in the former Granada Studios above Mollie’s, the brand’s new motel-themed hotel. Spread across five floors, Soho House Manchester will include 23 luxury bedrooms and larger suites, plus an 80 square meter two-bedroom private apartment. While the house won’t open until later this year, membership applications can already be submitted via the Soho House website. Membership will include access to numerous facilities, including a steam room, sauna and outdoor rooftop pool, fine dining restaurant and bar.

Dao by Dorsett North London
Opening in 2024

Dao by Dorsett North London, opening later in 2024, will be part of the Grade II* listed Town Hall complex in North London’s Crouch End. Spread over two floors, its 68 apartments are set to blend period charm with modern amenities. Original ironmongery and timber panelling will feature in many rooms, alongside contemporary fixtures. Overlooking Town Hall Square, the building also houses an art centre, cinema, several restaurants and a rooftop bar. Located in vibrant Crouch End, close to Finsbury Park, the hotel comes with proximity to shops, restaurants and excellent transport links to central London.

Seaton House, St Andrews
Opening in 2024

Seaton House on the Scottish East Coast is set to be the hot new destination for golf lovers. Situated near the first tee at the world-famous Old Course in the heart of St Andrews, guests will have access to first-class golf courses with panoramic views across West Sands Beach. After a day on the course or out exploring the historic town of St Andrews, guests will be able to unwind in the hotel’s own restaurant and oyster bar. Seaton House will offer 42 luxury bedrooms, including five suites and three junior suites, some of which will boast their own private terrace. The interiors are set to combine modern elegance with nods to the rich Scottish heritage of the Victorian town house.

The Bailiffgate, Alnwick
Opening February 2025

The Bailiffgate Hotel will launch in the historic premises of Duchess High School, a former Georgian school house in the Northumberland market town of Alnwick. Set to open its doors in early 2025, It will include a modern five-story extension adjacent to the historic property overlooking the Barbican entrance to Alnwick Castle. The hotel will feature 48 bedrooms, suites and apartments, as well as a stylish bar and restaurant, along with a private dining space.
