Destination Britain China 2023
VisitBritain
Testimonials 2023
Why should I target China?
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, China was the most valuable outbound market globally and the second most valuable inbound market for the UK.
In 2019, the Chinese outbound market was booming. Visits abroad had almost tripled in 10 years, from 28 million overnight stays in 2009 to well over 100 million in 2019. After three years of closed borders, China fully reopened in January 2023. International travel restrictions have been lifted and visits from China to the UK are forecast to recover to 2019 levels by 2026.

Before the pandemic, China was the second most valuable inbound market for the UK – and after lifting its travel restrictions in early 2023 it is predicted to return to its former strength by 2026. This is a vital opportunity to re-engage Chinese buyers and explore new business opportunities as the market grows.
This event enables delegates to strengthen their existing relationships, learn about the market directly from our in-market team and trade, and gain valuable direct contacts to unlock new opportunities.
